Bronzeville native nombreKARI, has spent the last 5 years pioneering a new sound for underground Chicago-based music artists. Pulling inspiration from all forms of expressionism, nombreKari’s work explores various sounds, structures and genres. This multi- faceted approach has allowed him to create an authentic form of artistry.
His work incorporates characteristics of hip-hop, jazz, pop, and soul. Venus released in 2017, offers listeners an intuitive balance of sound. From “Tulips” to “THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE”, the EP combines straight-forward rap, & canorous vocals.
nombreKARI’s influences include Jay-Z, Common, Roy Ayers, MJ, Nas, Kanye West, and Quincy Jones. Kari says, “[Quincy Jones].. he’s the most musically influential person of all times, nobody can tell me otherwise.”
